STORM SUMMARY 12-25-12

A narrow band of lake effect snow produced flurries and snow showers to portions of Cook County late morning till 8-10pm. Amounts were light ranging from a trace to mostly under an inch. Some salting was required in spots. Some surfaces were just wet. Many areas received trace amounts but I’ll only mention the cities that reported measurable snowfall. The Niles, Northbrook, Morton Grove areas in northeast Cook County southward to the Loop was where the majority
Of the activity was.

STORM SUMMARY 12-27-12

Once again the area received some scattered flurries at times during the work day.
There activity became more organized between 5-6pm near the lake and again mainly northeast Cook County. The activity eventually slid northward along the Lake County shoreline but was less organized and weaker. This was more of an east to west band of snow that came in off of the lake extending out into Arlington Hts. Amounts were rather variable ranging from a dusting to 5 inches. The area included Niles, Northbrook, Wheeling but not all the areas reported their snowfall totals so they are not mentioned below but the coverage was fairly widespread in NE Cook County northward. Salting and even plowing was required to clear surfaces.
