STORM SUMMARY 2-24&25-2016
Winter storm watches were issued for Lake, DuPage, Kendall, Grundy
Counties while winter storm warning covered Cook, Will and Kankakee
Counties 9am on the 24th to 4am on the 25th. Snow and Rain spread into northwestI ndiana as well as parts of Will, Kankakee and southern Cook County 7-9am. The rain part did not last long before it changed to all snow. The activity stayed Out of the Rockford area on the 24th with just some flurries there predawn on the 25th. The combination of air and pavement temperatures above freezing during the Storm really prevented snow form accumulating on the pavement most areas except In the areas that got decent snowfall amounts in southern Cook County southward as well over northwest Indiana where blizzard conditions prevailed. Temperatures Briefly slipped to 32 during the early evening hours before bouncing back up to The mid 30s by 9pm. Folks were encouraged to salt for the evening commute To prevent refreezing. The main snowfall ended just prior to midnight in Cook and Kankakee Counties. Some additional very light flakes in the form of flurries Fell 4-6am on the 25th . Officially ORD had 1.7 inches which pushed the season Total to 27.5 Rockford had none on the 24th and a trace 25th. Some areas just East of Rockford had a light dusting.
